A lot tamer than i expected, unfortunately. Kinda wish the dynamic could go to a messier place before the characters get together. Still a fun read.

I listened to the audio version. This might be my favourite Alexander Cendese's performance so far. He just shines in these himbo roles.
I kinda expected goofy shenanigans and the usual fluff going in, but this story hit me with hidden identity, surprising amount of longing, overlooked-side-characters-turned-main-characters and an actual heated couple's fight complete with tears in my fluffy Sadenverse books? I love it.

3.5 + 0.5 star for having an Entitled Pretty Rich Boy, which is my jam.
He exudes some real hissy cat energy and it’s hilarious. Not really a complaint but the story went on a lot longer than I expected (there’s even a bonus story on the author’s website)
Sex scenes: good, but I'd like them more if they're a tad shorter
Switching: yes 👍
Asshole alert: they're both assholes. It's all good.
Possibility of reread: likely

I like the initial living in the beetle part more than the romance.

The accent used was a bit much lol. Cendese has a very specific range of tone/voice that he’s good at, and I usually don’t buy it when he strays from that range.
I like the story and the couple. Lots of fluff. Low angst and low conflict between the couple. A substantial amount of family and kid drama.
This book concludes the series, but it very clearly sets up the start of the Puckboy series with Ezra showing up in the later p …Read More

Cute, engaging story. There is some unpleasant realistic conflict with side characters (while still cute overall, the vibe isn’t as lighthearted as the cover and synopsis suggested)
Sex scenes: 3 out of 5 serviceable stars
Switching: yes but it happens off-stage
Asshole alert: Keaton’s arguably cheating behavior (in both sense)

This read like a drarry fanfic in the best way. Enemies-to-lovers. Very YA with a lot of bickering, awkwardness and drama with little to no on page sex (I think.)
I really like how the story takes time to build up the romantic tension before resolving it in a very satisfying fashion.

Not as strong as irresponsible puckboy imo, which also features a sweet himbo, but I still enjoy it for what it is. The sex is surprisingly hot. (Maybe I just find dumbasses fooling around super appealing.)

DNF at 37%
The premise is promising, but the execution is lacking.

Maybe it was because I wasn’t in the mood for a sweet fluffy romance, but I had a lot of difficulty staying engaged. For a book with its title, the rivalry fell by the wayside a lot quicker than I’d hoped. By that point, the romance just became too sweet and normal for me lol.
Also strict roles in a rival romance is just a lost opportunity.

I paused at around 70% because I was so bored by all the fluff and niceness. It didn’t help that passive, shy nerd characters do nothing for me. But then I finished and liked book 2 enough that I went back and finished this just to see if there was any more mention of Beck and Jacobs (there wasn’t much)

Cute story. I enjoyed the family drama more than the romance, which was fine. I like the couple, but I wasn’t as invested in them as Cohen/Seth or Beck/Jacobs.
I felt like Asher sounded very different between the two narrators. Cendese’s was goofier while Toma’s was more brooding; as a result, sometimes the vibe of the scene was noticeably different when the POVs switched. It wasn’t a huge issue for me, but it was a bit distr …Read More
