I understand that the book revolving around the bug is supposed to be a metaphor but how do you make a reader go from being sympathetic to pulling out their hair in frustration! I did not like how things just happened without any explanation?! I don't read books to improve myself but rather to entertain my boring mind and this indeed scratched an itch but that's it?! This book was a short read but extremely enjoyable. Kind of made me realize how important it is to be a part of a good community and have relationships that are meaningful and help you evolve in better ways. The author introduces us in the first half to a woman who is dumped by her boyfriend and hence falls into depression, while the second half focuses on her uncle who's bookshop she decides to work at. So so boring! I heard the series gets better after 2 books but neither do I have the time nor the patience to sit through more ass writing.

When I read this as a kid, it felt more like a bed time story and I did not spend my time uncovering the undertones. Maybe it's the nostalgia or placing myself as an adult in the story but I certainly enjoyed the book much better as of now. The message is simple and clear and can be summed up in a single line.
