This book was rough. I fell for Malyr’s tricks and got my heart broken.

i really enjoyed the slow pace of this book, to the point where my biggest disappointment was that the ending felt a bit rushed in comparison with the rest of the story.

This had everything I love, every trope and subtrope: epistolary parts, secret identity, quirky but not too quirky heroine, broody warhero with a character arc, funny family interactions, but not too much of them, after getting together some more actiony scenes. Beatrix became one of my ult heroins: headtstrong but not the mix of stupid and headstrong but smart meets headstrong. Her managing Christopher was so funny to watch …Read More

Review for the whole series

I liked the art a lot. Every panel looks and feels like it was painstakingly drawn. I can see how Berserk shaped the manga industry as a whole.

Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the story. Griffith is practically a god in the later volumes. What’s the point of anything if you have such an overpowered villain? It’s not even like superman. He literally doesn’t have any weaknesses. Every action …Read More

Solidly Short Sequel. This book is a direct sequel to the Christmas 2024 era book A Wood-Fired Christmas, and like that book, it works quite well indeed as a particularly short romance novella that manages to pack quite a bit of tale and even emotional heft in its short, sub 100 page, length.

Long time fans of Evans know what to expect, but for newbies - and this series *is* a great introduction to her style with minimal time …Read More

It was pretty good. I don't really have the strongest feelings about this, which is both a positive and negative thing. It means I didn't hate it - there was nothing glaringly bad about this book. The plot was fine, I liked the characters. The writing was even decent. But there was nothing...more. I didn't love this. I didn't find it to be a page turner. I cared about what was happening but...I want to say it was almost pred …Read More

i’m seriously wondering why i am suddenly more than okay with reading monster porn.

i liked this book more than the first one, for sure. tons of spice, sweetness, and angst. i wasn’t sure at first how i felt about Seb and Lark as a couple, but they complement each other very well.

i also loved that we also got to see glimpses of Taylor and Holt and how in love they are.

Stakes Keep Rising. In this installment of the Sabel Security Thrillers, we find a rather ingenious terrorist plot, ran by someone inside the US. But who? That is what Pia Sabel and her team must find out. Good action, good mystery. Need a resolution to the mystery behind Pia's parents' murder already. That plot is starting to get long in the tooth with no resolution. Though the ending here was a bit of a cliffhanger - only …Read More

Well, that ripped my heart out.

Ended the series with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes. Just beautiful.

i loved the characters, i loved the humor (yes, even the fart jokes), and even though there isn't much of a story, the two main characters shared very sweet scenes. i would've given it 4 stars if it had a bit less smut and more character development.

I've learned something about myself while trying to read this: I prefer stories with real, human characters over stylish, witty writing or intricate plotting.

When characters are raw, unfiltered, and vulnerable, that's when I'm all in. I want that emotional closeness—the feeling that the writer is letting me inside, letting me actually feel what the characters feel.

I think this is pretty good writing. It’s witty, feels very m …Read More

It’s very “message”y. You see the writer’s hand, feel the themes being handed to you, and wish for more realness. Feels like it’s written for BookTok—lots of highlights, very quotable, not super lived-in.
