One of the best final books to a series ever. I like how masterfully Rowling wraps up everything she had been building across the 7 books. I've read this many times over the years and it never gets old.

TIL Netflix once accidentally sent porn DVDs to 5,000 people who had actually ordered tapes of Bill Clinton’s testimony. When they realized, they freaked out, sent apology letters to everyone, promised full refunds, and asked them to send the tapes back so they could replace them with the correct ones… not a single person returned it. 😂

I've learned something about myself while trying to read this: I prefer stories with real, human characters over stylish, witty writing or intricate plotting.

When characters are raw, unfiltered, and vulnerable, that's when I'm all in. I want that emotional closeness—the feeling that the writer is letting me inside, letting me actually feel what the characters feel.

Review for the whole series

I liked the art a lot. Every panel looks and feels like it was painstakingly drawn. I can see how Berserk shaped the manga industry as a whole.

Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the story. Griffith is practically a god in the later volumes. What’s the point of anything if you have such an overpowered villain? It’s not even like superman. He literally doesn’t have any weaknesses. Every action …Read More

“Behold!" Percy shouted. "The god's chosen beverage. Tremble before the horror of Diet Coke!”

Gotta love Percy.

One of the best self-help books I’ve ever read. It’s actually practically useful, not just a temporary boost of inspiration that fades the next morning when you wake up cozy in bed. This book gives you clear steps on how to change your habits — and it works.

One of the biggest takeaways for me was this: your environment shapes your habits. If you find it hard to do things that are actually good for you — like reading or going …Read More

It’s very “message”y. You see the writer’s hand, feel the themes being handed to you, and wish for more realness. Feels like it’s written for BookTok—lots of highlights, very quotable, not super lived-in.

Very entertaining and easy to read, thought not factually accurate in places.

This feels more like PR than an accurate biography. It conveniently leaves out the more unflattering parts of Musk and paints an overly positive picture of him as a genius visionary who also happens to be rude. Isaacson does mention his mistakes, but only in passing—almost as if he just wants to acknowledge that Musk makes mistakes, without really examining them.

Our book club happened to choose this as our first read, and it left me with conflicting emotions. While Hans Rosling’s heart is in the right place, I found his writing style frustrating. The constant mentions of giving speeches, attending conferences, name-dropping, and the repeated claim that 'experts perform worse than chimpanzees' quickly became tiresome. I just wanted him to focus on the subject matter.

That said, the bo …Read More
