For the first half I thought I'd be giving this a solid 4/5, but I struggled to even finish.
The most compelling part of this book was the developing relationship between the MCs, which is put on hold for a lot of plot-related stuff that I couldn't bring myself to care about. The plot never seemed to really matter; it felt tacked on, with a lot of random side characters thrown in that just feel like jokes. And the main character's sense of humor (probably the author's sense of humor tbh) wasn't really for me, particularly relating to the weird found-family shtick that starts around 60% of the way in - and this takes up a LOT of the last part of the book. I found myself doing lots of skimming.
Wish the second half was more like the first!
