Nowhere Ranch

Nowhere Ranch

Genuinely loved this. I was really surprised how touching and poignant this ended up being.

The narrator is an interesting character, and his narration felt almost stream of consciousness at times. The book starts out explicit and kinky and ends up being a moving story about found family, with the end result being that the first ~50% has a lot of sex scenes and the last ~50% almost none. I'm not sure if that's a complaint or not tbh - I think the progression felt natural, because their relationship starts out as sex only and then as it depends it becomes about more. To the narrator, the nonsexual intimacy is a lot more meaningful - and a lot more scary.

It's not often in M/M romance that there's a female side character I really like, but that happened here with Haley. Her friendship with Roe was a really lovely aspect of the story. Even the MC's relationships with the more minor side characters were nice - he had a lot of character development.

This book left me wanting more! I honestly could have read another 200 pages of this easily, but on the upside it didn't drag whatsoever. I enjoyed this a lot and I'll definitely be looking into more by this author.
