While reading it, I felt it was repetitive and slow, and I almost DNF'ed. However, after finishing it, I admired what it was trying to do and found myself going back to reread/skim portions.
There is a twist in the last 5% that changes how the reader views the entire story. I appreciated what the author did with perspective and point of view - the entire narration is skewed by the MC's biases and assumptions, and so the single POV was an absolute must for this story.
However.... that doesn't change that it still felt pretty repetitive. I appreciate what the writer was trying to do, but I feel like this would have worked better as a novella. It was alright as a one-off but I probably won't seek out the 2nd book in the series.
